Lexa Dome Homes Ltd is dedicated to be a global player supplying cost effective, green, sustainable, and energy efficient homes. In these uncertain times of climate change and global warming, the Lexa dome can give home owners additional security against earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, high winds and heavy snow loads. Lexa does not produce the traditional geodesic domes but rather its architectural plans are primarily elliptical monolithic wooden domes providing the inner ceiling height not usually attained with geodesic and standard spherical domes.
Lexa Dome Homes Ltd is a new Canadian company that manufactures wooden domes with engineered panels replacing the framing component of conventional stick frame construction.
Our intent is to bring the visibility of domes, primarily an elliptical dome home, to a new sector of the worlds populous that are hungry for new, inventive, and green alternatives for living environments and industrial uses. We are a fully active company currently finishing and building dome homes and other products in Canada. We can quickly react to demand, supplying and building more dome homes as required.
The Lexa focus is on quality and functionality of custom homes, standard product homes, cottages and a general overall scope where the panel method for curved walls can be exploited like band shells and domed ceilings. We are also bringing the traditional Quonset design into the forefront using our panel method of manufacturing. These Quonset designs are more an industrial component for products encompassing garages, a basic garden shed, storage, and temporary structures.
Lexa is a clearly a ?green? product provider. Our domes are made of wood, a renewable resource, and we utilize scrap and recycled wood products wherever possible. The dome shape is an excellent platform for complimentary green technologies such as electric and water solar panels and when built on a slab it can be fitted with radiant heat allowing the curved walls and their natural convection to use less energy in the structure.
Lexa domes use less material than standard stick frame construction. When compared with a similar-sized floor area rectangular-shaped house, a dome home will have 30% less surface area and use about 30% less lumber.
